LSB Clean Energy – Advancing the Low Carbon Vision

Ammonia, an important nitrogen fertilizer, is also a building block for other fertilizers, as well as industrial chemicals. As the fifth largest producer of ammonia in the U.S., our vision at LSB Industries is to become a leader in the energy transition through the production of products like low and no carbon ammonia.

While ammonia has historically been produced using fossil fuels as a feedstock, we recognize the critical need for our industry and our company to reduce the resulting carbon emissions from ammonia production. To do this, we much position our current business as low carbon, while also growing our low carbon products business.

Positioning Today’s Business for Low Carbon Leadership

  • Retrofit Existing Operations to Produce Low Carbon Products
    • Execute existing projects to secure a position as one of the first low carbon ammonia producers in North America
    • Optimize tonnage of low carbon products – help develop the low-carbon market
  • Continue adding incremental capacity
    • Debottleneck to build scale and have more low carbon tons available as the market develops.
    • Reduce emissions via new technologies, efficiency gains, and continuous improvement.
  • Optimize Product Mix
    • Improve product mix to provide growers with more sustainable products.
    • Leverage expected increased demand for low carbon products to greater penetrate industrial end markets – help customers reach their publicly-stated sustainability goals.
  • Proactively manage sustainability factors
    • Track emissions reduction and other sustainability targets and performance
    • Document progress in annual sustainability reports
